Not convenient to use with extended battery pack or controller covers

4 out of 5 stars

Not convenient to use with extended battery pack or controller covers
I got this expecting easy charging, to be able to just set my head set and controllers onto the charging station and let them charge away. It’s almost that easy, but not quite. This unit came with rechargeable batteries and battery cover replacements for the controllers which have the metal bits to touch to the station which allows charging. But they only work through contact so I had to remove my silicone controller covers. I see another reviewer was able to charge through their silicone controller covers, but I couldn’t get mine to charge through the covers. It comes with two type-C magnetic charging heads. You insert them where you would normally plug in your unit to charge it. You set the head set onto the doc and the short arm magnetically attracts and clings to the port on the visor. The problem is, I also have an extra battery on my Meta Quest. It doesn’t do any good to plug one of these magnetic charging heads into the extra battery. There isn’t any way to set the headset where the charging arm can connect to the back end where the extra battery is. Even if I stand there holding the unit in a position to attach the charger, the charger doesn’t recognize it and won’t charge the extra battery. In order to charge the headset, I have to disconnect the cord connecting the extra battery, plug the charging head into the headset, and in doing so disconnect the extra battery, then I can set my headset onto the charger, and then only the main battery will charge. I also have to still plug in the extra battery to the wall and charge it the standard way. Then, when I’m ready to play, I’ve got to unplug the extra battery from the wall, unplug the charging head, and connect the extra battery to the visor.Let’s talk about the lights. You’ve got green indicating fully charged, or red for charging. Take your visor or the controllers off and the lights turn green. There’s nothing on the charger but it still shows green. I would prefer NO lights when there’s nothing is on the charger. The other lights circle around the base, and the changing colors are fun to watch, until the novelty wears off. And the lights are bright. This unit lights up the whole bedroom while charging, and when charging is complete. It stays light until you turn it off or unplug it.All in all, this is a very nice unit for your basic set up. This charging doc loses functionality as soon as you start modifying your gaming system – in my case I added a battery to extend play time and I added silicone controller covers.

Amazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What’s this? )

I loaded up a bunch of pics to show the different parts included in the box.

Tip 1: When you unpack it make sure you grab the dongle that goes into the VR headset in the C port. There are two in the box, and easily to miss.

Tip 2: When you put rechargeable batteries in the handsets make sure the contact points are pointing outward toward the battery covers.

I'm a NERD! It light's up with cool colors…I love it.

The C port dongle magnetically connects to the charging antenna coming out of the base. It automatically snaps in place when you place the VR headset on the base.

The purpose of the base is to charge the device whenever you set it on the base. It serves that purpose well.

The thought process behind making the VR headset and hand controllers fit to make this rechargeable at an easy level is why I gave it 5 stars. No fear of tipping over, very stable base, and doesn't take up a lot of square footage.

The ability to use the lights for vibes is cool, but the lights under the controllers and VR headset also respond to amount of charge. Fully charged, it's green…..not charged…it's red. Simple, easy UI. What more can you ask for.

Check out my pictures! I hope they shine some light on your decision.

This review is for the Charging Dock for Meta Quest 3, Magnetic Charging Dock for Quest 3 VR Headset & Controllers, RGB Lights, Three Charging Indicators, Charging Stand with 2 Rechargeable Batteries
    From the NinxGloy Store
Okay, so being a long time Meta Quest VR headset fan, I took the opportunity to order this charging dock for my Quest 3 as I've been wanting a charging dock for a long time.
I have to tell you, I'm really impressed, and here's why. First, they give you those type-C magnetic charging heads ( two of them) and I just love them. You just insert the head right into your headset charging port, and then you just pull the round magnetic pin to the magnetic head and it starts charging your headset. I love these heads because it takes stress away from the cable so less chance of damage around the type-C input port over the long run.
The unit also comes with two rechargeable batteries for your controllers along with two specially made battery covers that replace the original controller battery covers and they fit perfectly! This is so your controllers will charge on the charging unit.
Also, being that I've I've got an Elite type headstrap, the headstrap is fully compatible with the charging dock and does not hinder its functionality in any way. I'll include a photo so you can see my Quest with Elite headstrap resting on the unit.
From everything I've experienced so far, I'm giving this a full 5 stars!
