It was easy to install. I have this as a secondary display in my motorhome that I can mount on my dash. I don't like looking down or taking my eyes off the road, and the large size makes it easy to view while I'm driving. The price was reasonable. Honestly I assumed all of these aux dash mounts were equal but they are not. Bought this one by mistake. It doesn’t offer a front facing camera or a back up camera, I can’t live without either. I was excited to get it and it looks good but unfortunately I will be returning it and getting one with the features I need. It was packaged well and shipping with price was fast and easy.

How do I get the static to stop??

Cool product, screen reaction time is a little slow, but whatever. However, the static when I play music through my car’s speakers is crazy.
Update, static sucks & the sticky on the bottom of the adjustable adapter won’t even stay on. Don’t waste your money.

Does not consistently switch on after switching off

The device is supposed to switch on and boot immediately boot once the power supply is switched on.

This particular device does not. It switches on after a while randomly after multiple ignition starts.

However, while it worked it was smooth and functioned well.

Replacement ordered.

Update : The replacement device works perfectly. This is a great addition to older cars that do not have a touch screen infotainment system. That too at this price point

Connects smoothly to Apple car play. Hardly any lag. The touch screen is pretty responsive and the display is good as well!

I recently installed the Plimpton 7 inch car player in my 2014 Renault Fluence. The build quality and fit-and-finish are excellent. The installation was straightforward; I completed it myself in under three minutes. The device powers on instantly and is ready for use in less than five seconds.
To preserve the sound quality of my stock player with Arkamys 3D sound, I connected the Plimpton device via Bluetooth. While the device's built-in speaker is loud, it's not ideal for music listening. I've been using it with Android Auto, which connects seamlessly via Bluetooth. A helpful tip: once you pair the Plimpton device to your car's Bluetooth, you can also connect your phone to the stock player. The Plimpton screen then functions as a phone screen and control panel, similar to modern Android Auto/Apple CarPlay systems.
Wireless Android Auto connects instantly, and the operation is smooth. All functions, including music, maps, calls, notifications, and Google Assistant, work flawlessly. The device also has a 2.5mm port for a reverse camera, though I haven't found a compatible one yet. Plimpton's customer support is responsive; they approved my extended warranty request within an hour. I plan to reach out to them for recommendations on a suitable reverse camera.
Overall, I highly recommend the Plimpton device to those who want to retain their stock audio system while enjoying the benefits of wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay connectivity.
